Gas appliance exhaust is toxic and needs adequate ventilation, which large swathes of American residences don't have.

Someone in government gets the idea to ban gas appliances in residences, which negatively effects working class people, rather than changing building codes to mandate adequate ventilation to the exterior of the building (which kitchens should all have regardless of what heat source), which would cost capital more money.

Another government official floats the idea of an $840 tax rebate (you can tell it's early in workshopping because there's no means-testing), which would only cover a garbage-ass glasstop electric stove (induction stoves [range + electric oven] start at $1300, and they are superior to both gas and electric ranges).

The usual Twitter crowds misconstrue the announcements and each other's arguments for clout (whether deliberate or not is inconsequential).

The Biden administration quietly lets the topic die.

what do you mean I love having all the grease and smoke and shit from my cooking just settle everywhere and if I flip on the fan above my stove it just blasts shit up towards the ceiling, that's great and well designed
