Neolib John Oliver is going to be the most insufferable shit to ever exist
Just cram as many of those assholes as you can around a comically small desk I'm talking like a dozen of these freaks around an ESPN panel-desk
Just wind them up and let them go
"Hey, everybody. Welcome to my new show NewFire. It's a new version of the classic debate jam Crossfire..."
About three minutes later...
"Stick 'em in the ovens. Stick 'em all in the ovens. Not just the Jews this time!"
"AdolfMyGod1488, hold up - I think you just went a bit too far there."
I don't think he'd call out AdolfMyGod1488, only make him wear a sleeve if he has swastika tattoos on his arms.
If I remember correctly the crossfire format was you had two hosts, "right" and "left", and guests with the idea you (as a guest, not a viewer) are getting a "crossfire" of both perspectives
So Hasan as cohost, and they co-interview Azov dude but Hasan gets angrier and angrier and Jon Stewart just keeps winking and chuckling nervously at the camera.
lmao imagine using "Bill Maher" and "entertainment" in the same sentence.
put me on there, i already have jokes about mel gibson and bill cosby written down
One of the worst things I ever watched was a Netflix Original late night talk show headed up by Joel McHale. It felt like they were going for a John Oliver type thing, except they completely stripped all the explicit politics out of it. It was literally just him commenting on the big stories of the day, and by big stories I mean what happened on Love & Hip Hop NY.
Last Week Tonight blew up because it was a notch more left-critical than what people were used to. Thinking you can make something just as successful but with a milder flavour of politics is laughable.
CNN comedy would be like the bit about chud comedians forgetting the punchline to go off on a bigoted rant except instead they keep going off on rants about Russiagate and Jan 6.
Can't believe they didn't do it sooner.
CNN has been mainlining dipshits like Glenn Beck, Tucker Carlson, and Eric Ericson for decades. You'd think they might have been bold enough to reach for a John Oliver or a Bubba The Love Sponge by now.
How many Bubba the Love Sponges are out there? It can't be only one guy.
It says CNN wants to get into comedy, then it says they're looking for their version of John Oliver -- which is it?
Hear me out:
We call it “The Guys Room”, Blitzer-Lemon-Tapper-Cooper have a live panel discussion where they live stream themselves channel surfing the other news stations from 7pm-12pm, no script, just improv. THINK OF THE ZINGERS!
