To me, it seems the reason why Mugabe's side and the other communist side split and ended with infighting is due to ethnic divisions...

Idk what fuckery he was thinking then....

      No, Mugabe was definitely anti-communist.

He was backed by the Maoists for being anti-Soviet, at the very least, but he was definitely anti-communist and wanted his own brand of socialism at best.

So, basically Jonas Savimbi, if he won the civil war?

I mean, makes sense, considering how the Soviet-critical Communist Parties ended up like that (Eg. Pol Pot's Cambodia and Hafizullah Amin's Afghanistan)

That being said, I don't see how he was clearly anti-communist?...

Jonas Savimbi of UNITA was backed by the Maoists, yeah.

          He was horrible and dictatorial.

MPLA was great. Too bad they're portrayed as bad people in the Cold War by U.S. propaganda and evangelicals...

He was against the pro-Soviet faction and said things about Marxism-Leninism or communism that were critical of it.

But this is from White Supremacy Confronted, which I recommend to everyone. Best book since The Communist Manifesto.
