      With them, there’s actual psychological pressure to try to “convince” people.

      There is NOTHING about an upvote system that changes that.

        Upvotes are literally designed to gamify interaction increasing engagement. Any attempts to gamify social interaction are objectively bad and we can definitely think of better ways to interact than the ghouls that design capitalist social media.
