I want to get better at holding my breath. But I gotta be honest, it's because I want my partner to do ungodly things to my mouth for extended periods of time, any tips?

I find actively trying to hold my breath just makes me think about needing to breathe more. I get the best mileage out of just relaxing all my muscles and clearing my mind. I doubt anyone can hold their breath long enough to get anything fun done under water though. Maybe see if they make snorkels for your nose?

Swim lots of underwater laps, apply progressive overload. So more distance covered underwater with longer laps, more sets of laps, more laps itself. And never do it alone, don't want to drown.

If that's an option where you live and have access to a pool and can swim

Though you won't hit numbers like holding your breath for multiple minutes without years of training or pure oxygen beforehand.

I mean for stuff like this with movies and diving, you breathe pure oxygen beforehand, which makes easier.

Even as far back as 1959, researchers demonstrated in seven untrained volunteers that breathing 100 per cent O2 prior to a breath hold resulted in maximum breath hold durations of six to 14 minutes. So Winslet’s seven-minute breath hold with only a few weeks’ training is definitely possible.

The most important part of the article

Just like you can't get movie star physiques without steriods, you can't hold your breath like them without pure oxygen.

Okay maybe not the best comparison, but still. They have access to all kinds of stuff we don't.
