I remember loving this movie as a kid used to watch it every 2-3 years. IT has its flaws but it is a wildly inventive sci-fi action adventure similar to fifth element. The good parts are great and the bad parts are so bad its good.

Its a unity ticket film you can watch with your irony-poisoned terminally online friends AND your friends who still like Marvel movies.

At the same time, I am suspicious of any vin diesel movie...

EDIT: Not trying to stir shit, just genuinely wanted to know if people had weird vibes from this movie or what so I don't show it to a friend and have them go wtf

We put a space prison on a planet that's so close to a sun that the planet is half fucking frozen and half whippish lava hellscape at all times, rotating as the sun rises and sets.

Completely agree it's not the best but it can be a fun ride. There are also some based class-traitor tropes that I enjoyed

I like Vin's Riddick movies bc they're entirely watchable b-movie trash, but done in good faith and with fun setpieces and ideas. Plus the "soup cup" scene is one of the most ba action movie scenes in the 21st century.
