We did it!
It makes me wonder if there would still be little pockets of capitalism centuries after socialism became the dominant mode of production worldwide.
Probably not, capitalism is unique in that it's a social mode of production that requires a state, immense violence, and vast capitals to grease the wheels.
Tiny feudal estates can be pretty functional though as long as the peasant class is happy and doesn't want to kill the Lord.
You can't really have a tiny pocket of capitalism when even a corner store would require integration with 25 different light and heavy industrial supply chains.
I guess, but those pockets existed with much smaller scale production. There's no profit to be had by small firms when socialist production would have outcompeted them. Also why would workers choose to work for a capitalist for less pay?
There's also the fact that capitalism and communism are directly antagonistic to each other while feudalism can work alongside capitalism. Hell primitive accumulation and enclosure is the direct doing of feudal lords abandoning the old feudal contracts and choosing to become capitalist.
I don't think so. Communists with enough power to end capitalism would wield that power. The smaller and smaller the pockets get the easier they become to destroy.
im gonna own a toothbrush black market store to sell people toothbrushes secretly if they dont want to use the public one
whole world bout to become inundated with Sealand copycats
Originally from the US, Kaye Char has lived in Sark for 14 years and was once on the island's constitution committee under the old feudal system - something she feels should never have changed.
"Everyone knew exactly what they wanted, and everyone knew exactly why it worked," she said.
Democracy does not work in Sark, according to Ms Char, because of the small community being so interwoven with family ties, and the grudges that affect politicians' decision-making.
"In this island, all the things that make it not work well are exactly what we've got tonnes of," she said.
Sounds like they need a system the puts people in positions based on competence rather than popularity. I don't really know how you solve the grudges issue though. If the old system was working for them without any conflict maybe going back to it is a good idea. Perhaps it balanced out fine provided nobody felt the need to kill the Seigneur.
I'm not an anarchist but I think the best solution would be anarchy like the other british territory of tristan da cunha
interesting video, a bit eurocentric though to name the video "How Feudalism Finally Ended In 2008" when you only mean "in europe."
also the story, while interesting, is a bit dry. it all came down to a bunch of weird legal technicalities and a couple of meddling capitalists. But barely any mention of how the contemporary people on Sark actually lived beyond the mention of weird ambulances and unfixed dogs.
this youtuber's avatar is cringe but at least it reminds me of this gem
