I do think the collective position here on "grifters" is frequently the poster protesting too much. the funny internet characters are entertaining. sometimes they're smart but usually they're not. the anxiety that discussion of them is crowding out Important topics is alleviated by ignoring them if you really don't care and simply talking about those important topics.

disappointed that under fairly mild critique she's gone into an instant fash spiral. everyone has bad takes, everyone gets dunked on. Most of us either check ourselves or find a bottle of cognac to cry over and accept we're not going to agree on every point.
