Can't win em all. I rather have bill burr be a bit problematic and get some chuds thinking differently, than purity test him and get worse chuds.

I mean you could say the same thing about Dave Chappelle, but nobody on here does.

I don't think it's purity testing to say people shouldn't be very sexist. It's one thing to make "I hate my wife" humour, it's another to go as far as he does

I agree to an extent. I wouldn't consider Chappelle calling himself a terf in his special and actively bolstering anti-trans groups the same as Burr being misogynist. I think the former is a lot more dangerous.

Burr does have a lot of misogynist takes, but he'll also use that same energy to point out actual hypocrisy, like his bit on white women pushing their way into conversations, like they weren't cool with racism until it no longer benefited them. If one is to reach people on tough topics, there needs to be a certain amount of implied common ground to get people to lower their defenses.

Burr has the ability to reach chuds, I've seen it over and over, the difference between him and Chappelle though, is Burr will actually try to get a message across to them where as Chappelle has proven he doesn't give a shit about his perceived responsibility as an entertainer.

I've gotten through to a lot of chuds by simply not yelling at them, finding some common ground, then being like "c'mon man, you're not dumb, you can see through this bs". Its not 100% but damn it gets further than just yelling at them or dunking on them.

The right understands this in a critical-mass organizational method, its frustrating to watch the left pick at scabs and lose potential allies when there are way bigger fish. A community isn't made up of all saints, we welcome people with way worse takes.

        Anyway, sorry for the rant.

As if Burr is not very transphobic. He did a whole thing when Caitlyn Jenner came out, with all the typical transphobic jokes. And misogyny of course is very bad for trans women.

I don't think alienating 50% of the population is the way to go

I'm actually revisiting some burr now to actually backup/retract what I said.

Chapelle just complains now rather than say anything funny or meaningful. I mean bill burr does too in some of his specials, but he hasn’t reached the point where it’s just “IM BEING CANCELLED EVEN THOUGH I HAVE A TRILLION DOLLAR SPECIAL AIRING RIGHT NOW!!”

Red brown alliance thinking is fed by reactionary self-labeled socialists. It's good to poke and pipeline people, but we've gotta actually complete the pipeline, not leave them to be taken in by opportunists.

People who get left at that point will be the ones killing us in the street.
