I love me some Gorillaz but not as big a fan of the art shift towards realism over the phases.
ngl, this album cover is incredibly weak. trying to reproduce a sort of candid 70's psych folk occult photography shoot with glossy illustrations and some messy effects thrown on top feels all sorts of misguided.
I do really like that you can see the string holding murdoc up tho

Specifically, it was supposed to be a collaboration between the label and toy company Superplastic, who had previously made Gorillaz figurines, but the good old wankers from Whitechapel and Wales respectively shut it down.
the album logo is sort of a mashup of the Greendale Community College logo and a black sun - interesting
grillerzzz. nothing beats playing a racing game with my dad as a little guy and 'the shoeshine song' came on...
haven't listened to it but it's funny that there was significant backlash over featuring bad bunny on latam lol
Cracker Island the song is crack
I wish there were like 100 hours of thundercat dance/funk basslines in songs. His jazz fusion stuff is cool and fun and all but what's the use and black qualls and Wesley's theory :stalin-feels-good:
