I know it's a lesser known term, but there's entire subgenres of games that are often called that (often under pretense of affection) by those that play or at least critique them.

Recent example of a review using the term, even if the review of the game is mostly positive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPuDCoDa8C8

This feels like a super niche term, but like eurojank and jrpg, if refers to a certain number of qualia in games that taken in combination are distinct and indicative of the region they're produced and the tradition of video game conventions there. Janky game elements are ubiquitous everywhere, but the particular ones that pop up regularly in European games are different from in American ones. Or things like UI and menu conventions, which vary from place to place in a way that's very obvious to someone confronting a new convention.

I guess we could say that the terms are America-centric, but I think it would be better to recognize and label conventions and qualia distinct to american games rather than get rid of terms for games which are made in different traditions. Because it's frankly very fascinating to examine the differences in games made in different places and how that's informed by the history of game development there or reflective of broader culture. And the shorthand is useful and already adopted.
