Eh they called it Manchukuo, which is the japanification of Manchuria which is labeled so after the Manchu who originally were called the Jurchin before the tribes unified to seize the seat of the Son of Heaven (emperor of China) with the Qing dynastic period, in very simplified terms from my understanding.
