https://lgbtqia.fandom.com/wiki/Sapphic had never heard achillean either. I'm glad I did tho, it helped clear up an apparent inconsistency with the term lesbian. Neat!
I'm mostly straight & cis, but I know Hexbear has a large queer presence (I love my trans comrades!) so it's actually surprising to have not encountered it much here. I guess that's what I get for staying out of /c/anti_cishet_aktion like I'm told lmao.
Relatedly, I'm always surprised at how few people know the word Yonic. Phallic I feel is pretty well known and widely used, but it seems like Yonic isn't well known. (just and phallic means looks-like-a-penis, yonic is looks-like-a-vagina/labia)
Yonic is from Sanskrit and was first recorded as used in English in the 19th century and Phallic is from Latin and has thus been around in the west far longer. So it makes sense that Phallic would be used more in English.
Also because society is obsessed with dicks.
I actually never heard the term Achillean until now. The Greeks are truly the gayest of peoples.
My deep cut Ancient Greek lore and sexual perversion knowledge has led me to create the term Arrhichionian for fans of erotic asphyxiation. You can only do it once, but let me tell you I hear it’s amazing
For real tho of all the ways to go out getting choked to death in a sweaty dudes triangle hold is near the top for me. I want to die how I lived
Yeah, it's a much more useful term for me tbh. I prefer it to lesbian
I thought sapphic was a term geologists used to rate rocks and gems until a few months ago
