Quitting cigarettes was one of the proudest accomplishments of my life. It was even a bigger milestone for me than quitting heroin due to the length of time I was dependent on it (7 years on dope vs 25 years on cigs). When most of your teen and adult years were spent chain smoking as a crutch for every occasion you feel almost naked and vulnerable without it. I started in the early 90s though when kids could buy them from vending machines for just 2 bucks a pack, and there was very little stigma due to how ubiquitous public smoking was. I'm almost in shock now when I see a teenager smoking because it feels almost anachronistic. I also wonder how they can afford it at today's prices.

What was it like quitting in the midst of one of the most uncertain times in history?
I never smoked tobacco but COVID got me to switch from smoking weed to eating edibles and I definitely feel better
Knowing how habit forming it is to smoke anything to begin with makes you quitting a substance as addictive as tobacco even more impressive, great job
Good work! Medically speaking, you can take solace in knowing that once you quit, most of the smoking related risks go way down, almost as good as a non smoker.
i'd be interested to see that if you could post it or dm it to me. that's great though, considering how addictive nicotine is, i'm always impressed when people can quit.
Congratulations comrade, that's wonderful! I am at five months less a spliff and one puff of forgetting what a hookah was. Keep it up you are encouraging me so much,
Quitting smoking when your nearly 100 is just flexing at this point.
Really though, congrats.
Three years is massive congrats!! Hope you can keep looking forward :meow-hug:
