I've been seeing bad faith arguments like "boomers should stop leaching off the young'uns" in a few comments and it makes me understand just how intentional the generational "rivalry" is.

The boomers are already mostly retired lol. And the new retirement age won't kick immediately. That argument is like extra bad faith at this point!

I kind of get that generational size differences are hard on pension systems, but we're already past the boomer generation retiring. If that were the only concern it's decades too late to address it.

Countries that have raised the retirement age even further more than a decade ago (such as the UK) have done so while also making the new higher age not apply to boomers. So for example if you are a boomer you get the UK state pension when you turn 65, which most of them have now, but hadn't yet when the law was changed back in 2011. If you are gen x you will have to wait until you're 67, and if you are a millennial or zoomer you will need to wait until you are 68 to get the (probably by that time non-existent) state pension.

Automation tax on companies that goes directly to fund univers basic income globally. If your job gets automated free health care and salary for duration of work training for another job that still can't be automated yet. Less work hours for everyone as there are now so many more people taking on the work because their previous jobs are now automated, further encouraging automation The less jobs we have the better. Why aren't people fighting for this?

You can say a lot of things about :france-cool:, but I can vibe with a good number of people there. The whole thing helped shatter my gen z vs boomer brainworms.
