I watched it so long ago that i honestly don't remember. I only remember the character growth and the MC becoming more and more their own person. It was very weird to see a female anime character that wasn't flat and childish.

Lol sorry about that. I have no clue though. Unfortunately, "Shojo Anime with SA scenes interspersed" doesn't narrow it down.
I watched 12 kingdoms relatively recently and I'm pretty sure it doesn't. It's possible it implied/discussed and I've forgotten that specific moment, but definitely not every episode.
