    i can't for the life of me figure out what the basins are for & why they're opposed

    kind of refreshing for reporting to so extensively cover the violence but please give us a little context lol

    e: i've only gotten more confused with investigation, the basins just seem to be fancy ponds to keep irrigation water, like is water so scarce in this conspicuously green country a few pondsfull of managed water will parch the regular people? is it who owns them? which seems to be a farmers coop? :puzzled:

      And yes there have been French farmers coops (not very radical) who are opposing it as well. Most of the people present there were not violently confronting the police. As always that’s more the black bloc and anarchists’ job lmao

      Sorry yes should have included that in the description.

      Basically it’s ecological and anti-state oriented.

      Tbh it’s mainly anarchistic groups who are organizing first off as part of ecological movements against this huge reservoir which is being constructed, but more broadly has to be understood in context as them attempting to force a confrontation with the police.
