Some time around 2019, I tried to explain QAnon etc. to someone I know who proudly "doesn't follow news." I pointed out that the US has a large base of white supremacist and Dominionist people who have been successfully organizing for decades, and are disproportionately powerful as a result. I raised the concern that with something as unhinged as QAnon ballooning in popularity, white supremacists could have a realistic chance at seizing power.
Their reply: "Well that is scary, but not as scary as if Obama imports Muslims until America is a Muslim country."
And yes, I did ask whether they meant Obama when he was still president. They did not, apparently this is still an active threat in their eyes
