Brandon Johnson, the PrOgReSsIVe candidate running to be Chicago's next mayor, the guy that's got Bernie coming to town tomorrow to stump for him, has done a 180 on cutting the police budget and redistributing their funding. Has said multiple times now he won't do it. Too bad defunding the cops is the exact fucking reason most people voted for him in the first round.

I don't know if he's just bold-facedly lying on tv in a cynical play to get boomer votes, or if his pivot to the center is the price he's had to pay for all his Democratic endorsements, or if he really has just changed his mind on wanting good things to happen, actually.

Anyway, fuck the whole goddamn thing. Johnson is better than Vallas but his turn right shows that really no matter who wins it's just going to be another shitty holding pattern dem who maintains the status quo while everything crumbles around us.
