Depends on the bit. During the last two years, I wouldn't call them reactionary so much as 'flailing wildly about' and occasionally they'd mine some gold. Definitely a step down from their original premise of 'hey remember all those absolutely stupid hack comedian lifers that were in the scene when I was a blackout alcoholic, what are they even doing now?'.
However, the thing that always gets me is how earnestly dumb the show remained.
Like, Nick would do the Nigerian Shark Tank, which to me is funny because all the Nigerians I know talk about 'doing big business' all the time, and somehow nails the accent (I think he must have watched some weird videos or something) but Nick doesn't know anything about Nigeria so he just rambles about sandals and coconuts, mostly because it sounds funny to him. However what sells me on the bit is when he then goes and learns about Nigeria and sounds legitimately disappointed that it's a real place with real people who have all the same problems we do, plus extra ones because of the decolonization and poverty. He doesn't find Nigerians funny, he finds the weird mental image that he has built in his head to be funny.
Is the bit reactionary? Yeah. Is it still funny? Yeah probably.
