Edit: we'll now that enough people have commented, I want to make a snarky edit bemoaning the fact that anyone here would disagree with me. I'm really let down by this community for not validating ever take I have and will probably stop participating here for like two days before resuming posting as much as ever.
Yeah but toasters are pretty durable, as are ovens, once you buy one you're unlikely to have to replace it for the better part of a decade. So I feel like the efficiency gain from using a toaster rather than heating up a whole oven (which also has the knock on effect of heating up your house a bit which can also be bad in warmer months) probably covers the production cost pretty quickly. IDK, kinda feel like we'd have to have an actual engineer chime in here to do a real analysis on whether using a toaster or toasting in the oven is overall more efficient or not.
I don't actually have a response to this, so I'm just going to call you an ignorant liberal so I can continue without needing to challenge my blind toaster hate.
