their pupils were black as night. I am not exaggerating.

Yknow, when I call my boss a demon, its a figure of speech.

That said, OP, this is a union busting tactic. They're afraid that you're agitating. Either get organized or get out, because you're a target.

Make sure you have a good recording app on your phone. Practice activating it and make sure it records and you can find the recording. Any time you are in a room with your boss, turn it on. You might never need them but if you do, they will be very, very clutch. Be careful who you disclose the fact that you're recording to. The best time to start recording your boss is your hire date, the second best time is today.

If they catch you they'll fire you because the law treats intimidation and unjust firings the same way, and it's better to be hung for a sheep than a lamb. Get a hidden camera (amazon sells ones that look like pens).

Forget a recording app lol. You’re gonna forget to turn it in or fumble. Just get one of those mini recorders that fit in your pocket and can have a 24 hour charge

If you're in bands a decent quality floor mic pays for itself as well. They're pocket sized and will pick up everything

There ought be some way to keycombo "start recording" with just power and volume buttons. So you can do it from your pocket. Although I doubt the mic would be good enough to work from your pocket and that android let's you access that API.

Totally unrelated, but did you know that poisoning was actually a major concern for slaveholders in early US history? It's true! The enslaved would slip it right into their captors food! Isn't history wild!

I'm not advocating for poisoning your boss btw, but there are other ways to fuck their lives and business. Just saying.

Osha sometimes offers bounties for reporting violations. Sounds like it is a good idea to check if they have programs that cover your area

This is so irrational. To mandate that a worker not be permitted to speak of health concerns with coworkers, why? Has your boss ever spoken of health concerns to anyone at the office? Are employees able to discuss their lunches? This kind of autocratic intimidation is for some ulterior motive.

Probably because they’re cutting corners. Document, as others have said. Take video of the cloud of dust (if it’s recurring). Record conversations with others corroborating what you witnessed. Don’t be intimidated. If something's wrong you’re not the only one who knows it. Look for comrades who have a sense of morality/doing the right thing.

They don't want to deal with the fallout if the dust was actually harmful. Write everything down with dates and time and as much detail you can provide, like you've done here. Keep it for your records. Continue to write anything you notice and any future conversations with management or if anyone else mentions potentially unsafe conditions. I don't know the relevant laws for what you're protected in discussing with your Coworkers, but it's absolutely worth looking into: this might be something they're not allowed to fire you or discipline over.

You should talk to your coworkers about it, but you might have to be sneaky about it and be sure they won't tell on you.

It may not be if you're using it for NLRA protected activity https://labornotes.org/blogs/2023/02/nlrb-punches-holes-no-recording-policies
