Yeah the original made the idea of a "false Flag operation", which the CIA agent and Russian terrorists shooting up the airport was, enter popular consciousness. Which considering the events of 2009 with Sandy Hook, was uhh maybe not the best timing. Led to a bunch of idiots calling Sandy Hook a "false flag" because they heard about it in a video game and Alex Jones was saying it.
The original was obviously propaganda, but at least it was subtle compared to the modern stuff and the "bad Americans" were also at fault on their own terms and get killed.
