Propaganda shit aside. What the fuck is this, man? The original betrayal was simple but the new one is convoluted, takes forever, becomes a John Wick movie, and le roooosia was behind everything!!!
the two things that stand out to me are:
-
How corny the new skull mask looks
-
The sheer ridiculousness of the opening firefight taking place at a range of 10 meters in the open. It's like a Nerf fight
The game really is just corny as shit. All the "Operators" are wearing a bizarre mix of airsoft gear, fashionable hoo-ah shit from 2005, and like dive suits and shit. Just bizarre. The default Ranger skins are actually dressed like, you know, actual soldiers, so it's not that no one on the art team knew what was what.
And yeah the skull masks just look dumb.
lmao, did they seriously call the extremely arcadey shooter "realistic"?
The only realistic things about it were the weapon designs, graphics, and some of the weapon handling. Everything else is just call of duty but with more banter
They COD modellers semi-frequently add intentional mistakes into the gun models to tell when other companies rip their models for their games, too.
It’s like a Nerf fight
With all the three laned maps and long time to kill weapons with laser bullets and no recoil, call of duty multiplayer has basically been a Nerf fight mixed with laser tag since black ops 2. With some weird jumpsuits in between in a few games. They tried to change it with warzone and the modern warfare reboot in 2019/2020, but I don't know how successful it was.
The average and slightly above average COD player has no understanding why the COD games are enjoyable to them, so all they did was complain. They complain about skill-based match-making, they complain about "noob weapon spam," they complain about having bad teammates, they complain about spawn camping, they complain when the maps are big enough to not have spawn camping. They literally judge the game by how well they do in it and anything that levels the playing field (i.e. they're not stomping kids in matches) makes it bad.
Seriously, the old skull balaclava and goggles thing Ghost had in the OG at least looked like something someone would wear. All I can think of looking at new Ghost is how he had to get that mask custom made and then put on facepaint to match it before every single mission, it's so dorky.

Shadow Company, get it? It's because they do black ops shit and dress in black all the time! :so-true:
fash are always so terminally fucking un-cool that they have to figure out "badass" sounding names(or outfits) to seem cooler
The company that made poll counting software for the Iowa caucus in 2020 was called “Shadow Inc” and had investors from the anti Bernie campaigns. They renamed themselves because I guess being seen as a cabal wast the best marketing
I demand better writers for the simulation, these fuckers have stopped trying after the 80s atleast.
It's not even that. If it was good shit I wouldn't be complaining. The original scene was melodramatic but the new one is just ebic operator black ops shit
The new Battlefield will have a Ghost of Kyiv character, I guarantee. There's no way they're gonna skip capitalizing on it and having him do crazy RPG jet maneuvers
If a stone cold one liner is awesome, imagine how much cooler it would be if everyone stood around and did banter at each other. Thanks Marvel!
The battlefield bad company games were really good for the time and constantly made fun of call of duty, no way we get another game like that in the modern climate
I also learned that they included Ghostface Killer - yes, from Scream - in the game. And the best part? His origins is listed as KGB
Michael Myers is a DPRK sleeper agent.
Jason Vorhees? Chinese CCP super gene soldier.
Freddie Krueger idk, he can be Iranian as a treat.
Ghostface Killer
"You recognize this technique?" "Five Elements!" "You remember!"
 :meow-knit:
Ghostface, catch the blast of a hype verse
My glock bursts, leave in a hearse, I did worse
Wtf lol. Can't have the American general Shepard being corrupt on his own like the original, Russia has to be involved now. That is some state department shit. The original is 100 times better because at least the story has nuance and isn't just Russia= bad.
Can't believe I'm defending the story of the original game, in which an American CIA agent shoots up a Russian airport with some Russian terrorists and gets caught, leading to Russia invading the US from the US east coast, because they took out all the US satellites! The Russians need arms dealers in Brazil for some reason, and a nuke is detonated in space, by the US, over Washington DC for reasons. And general Shepard just wants to keep the wars going for money and power, even if his own country is almost destroyed. Like it's absolutely ridiculous, but still way better than the new one.
I still remember how badly battlefield bad company 1 and 2 made fun of those call of duty campaigns, and now those original call of duty campaigns seem like super logical and Oscar winning stories compared to the current ones!
The original also made rounds back in the day for being covert imperialist propaganda lol, it's amazing how much worse it's gotten that the original looks tame in comparison now
Yeah the original made the idea of a "false Flag operation", which the CIA agent and Russian terrorists shooting up the airport was, enter popular consciousness. Which considering the events of 2009 with Sandy Hook, was uhh maybe not the best timing. Led to a bunch of idiots calling Sandy Hook a "false flag" because they heard about it in a video game and Alex Jones was saying it.
The original was obviously propaganda, but at least it was subtle compared to the modern stuff and the "bad Americans" were also at fault on their own terms and get killed. Crazy that the propaganda slop has gotten so bad that we can say this now. Because the original modern warfare 2 story was not subtle at all for the time, it was the most obvious Amerika fuck yeah stuff.
The story makes no sense. An undercover CIA agent dies so the whole shooting is blamed on America. How would anyone know this corpse is an American? They literally say he looks like any other Russian. How would people not see Makarov on the CCTV when he's a well known criminal? How would a mass shooting start a war anyway?
Yeah it makes no sense, but it somehow makes more sense than the new game.
I guess Makarov is in charge of everything and covers it up.
But then in the third game they show that new character that was there the whole time apparently. They shoot him before getting on the elevator that starts the No Russian mission. Did the undercover guy not see that and realize something was up?
The third game makes no sense lore wise, they even rewrite the story of the sniper mission in Chernobyl. It was a mistake.
It was also made by a completely different studio to the first and second games, which explains the disconnect.
wait you're supposed to tell me the original COD MW2 guy survives getting shot in the stomach and set on fire
lol
No he doesn't survive. The new game is a reboot of the old one but named the same thing
I played... uh... an unhealthy amount of arma and that little bird shooting dudes from a hover 3ft away is very funny.
This game is just the stupidest shit. I lost interest before I even got to the comparison part.
why is the guy who betrayed them not even fucking there in the remake? the betrayal got delegated to some goon lmao
I've been playing bf2042 for the past week and the implied setting/plot (there is no single player campaign) is wild.
Load into a map and the intro voiceover will be like "an earthquake revealed what the Russians allege is a secret military installation in the Canadian Rockies, and they are moving to secure the site. Get in there and kill every last one of them so our secrets dont fall into the wrong hands" :frothingfash:
Another map, Russian side: "This Swedish arms manufacturer has been supplying Amerikkkan operatives around the world for too long. That stops today. Your mission is a full scale assault on the factory" :comrade-raccoon:
