On a scale of posting. With 1 being the “one true Lefotst” stuff and 10 being “that time the sub bullied a mentally disabled guy off the internet for sincere posting about Bunny cop and then made it a major part of our meme repertoire with absolutely zero self reflection” I’d say it was a solid 5
I remember them actually coming back to the sub after and making a post about how they'd learned about police brutality or something and also calling out people for being unnecessarily mean.
I don't think he was dragged as much the second time and the general consensus was to chill and be nice to them.
That was somewhat intentional people started downplaying where it came from/ pivoted to saying it was from the “I didn’t stick my duck in the bunny cop” copypasta. But that was around way before the sub started memeing it to death and said memes only began AFTER the guys post.
I know the feeling. It sucks. I frankly can’t look at the basketball emoji in a good light either since it’s from that Garrison Kobe comic and I remember THAT fucking stupid ass cringe event too
It's a bit more complex than that, but the description is accurate. The person posted a thread asking if it was ok to like Zootopia (and in particular the bunny cop) even though cops are, you know, bad. Responses ranged from the beginnings of the now-popular meme, to people saying that this was way overthinking the whole thing and that OP should just enjoy Zootopia if they like it (typically with some aside about how it is copaganda), to people desperately trying to convince OP to stop participating in the discussion because they were clearly becoming increasingly distressed by the whole thing. I think it spilled into multiple posts by OP, and by the end most people were just trying to get OP to log off because the sub was not a good place for them to be spending time right then (the meme posts about "fucking the bunny cop" started almost immediately).

God I hope that guy is doing well wherever he is. That whole thing was gross.

there was also the "closing the sub for a joke wasn't ok" thing
There was a lot of shit. I still remember the Defense of people being transphobic to the contrapoints mod because it was “a justified attack”
