I'm sorry, but I'm dumb as a box of rocks and this has thrown me for a loop. I don't understand how to progress my galaxy team research rank and move on in the story.
i havent played it in a minute, but each pokemon entry in the pokedex has some tasks you have to do. i think some tasks give more research XP, those are the ones usually most relevant to the pokemon (like evolving eevee into each of its different evolutions).
completing each tier of tasks (again with eevee, one of the tasks is evolve eevee into 1, then 3, then 5 unique evolutions or something) gives research XP
you will have to catch a LOT of the same pokemon over and over, since thats also one of the tasks on almost every pokemon entry besides legendaries. with eevee you'd have to catch enough eevees to evolve into each of its evolutions
Also, make sure to talk to the guild leader lady. Took me forever to figure out I had to give my research to her before leveling up
Legends is more of a pokemon catching game than a battling game. Catch more under certain circumstances i.e. "catch while unnoticed" meaning while you're crouched in some grass or using certain moves or certain styles (fast or strong). It's all in the pokedex thing you have. Once you have the points that you need, talk to Cyllene in Jubilife village and you'll level up. In total I think you only need to get like 5 stars out of 10 to complete the game so you really don't need to grind super hard if you don't want to.
