Why do people have such a hard on for being space fascists? Star Wars has the most basic good vs evil plot out there but people keep pretending there's some kind of nuance on the team that semi-regularly blows up planets.

You know about any good Jacen/Caedus fanfics? Always felt like he got done dirty. His late-stage NJO/early LOTF arc was dope with the whole "learn every philosophy of the force and seek a unified understanding without dogma" thing. Felt like a good guy version of Kreia's relativism.

It was pretty dope up until they wiped out the old EU. The fans of the books and comics aren't the same crowd as the movie fans. Like, there was the occasional problematic thing in there, such as people who would argue that the empire was justified given the small hints one particular author sprinkled in about Palps doing the whole thing because he knew about the upcoming extragalactic space barbarians that were gonna fuck everyone's shit up. The one new thing the rebooted lore does really well is having the Chiss explicitly standing sentinel againstsomething in the unknown regions, so if they do another Vong arc the imp defenders can't say it was the empire trying to do that.
The best part has been watching the subreddit have a collective orgasm over the promo short that portrayed the
fascistImperial pilot in a somewhat positive light, and then watching them backtrack and throw a hissy fit over "forced SJW politics in gaming" or whatever when his bio on starwars.com came out that he's gay.Hilariously, Disney's writing team also made him an ex-cop. 👏 MORE 👏 LGBTQ+👏 TIE 👏 PILOTS 👏.

That was probably me lol, I asked about starting a group and someone told me they do indeed have a discord group for it. I'm in a bit of an uncertain position right now trying to get back to work and don't know if my schedule will remain intact but I'd also love to do some piracy with you all. It's on sale right now too for less than $30 on steam.

I think we're the nerds for knowing that, but quibbling aside: totally agreed. I am yet to see a forum with a "no politics" rule that doesn't devolve into reactionary nonsense. well, except for like 12 people niche hobby forums. Those generally stay very on topic in regards to the niche hobby....generally.
