Me either.
If I wanted to know the history of hats (which I do) I'm going to listen to all 1000 hours of The Dollop.
is the answer shampoo?
wait why is this video 23 minutes long? just tell me the answer.
my campaign to being back the 10 minute youtube limit continues
If the answer isn’t cars the video is wrong. It’s not because JFK didn’t wear a hat, it’s because we started driving everywhere and when you’re only outside for the 5 seconds from parking lot to front door you don’t need the protection from the elements (sun and rain) that people who had to walk everywhere had to. Also what hats persist in car culture? Baseball caps because they cover the eyes but still allow you to sit back against a car seat with the one sided brim
Source: idk it sounded right in my head
definitely sounds right to me. imagine trying to go around with, like, a cowboy hat in the modern day. just as an extreme example. that shit would actively get in the way more often than it would help anything
So...hats are...more common in Europe and other places with walkable cities and good public transport, but I'd hardly call them very common.
this is the answer. i googled it. it was faster than watching a 23 minute youtube video
don't focus on the answer to the click-bait question, there's actually a lot of really cool history in this video
like
hat making was one of the first female dominated professions in the US
or
people hatted so hard they had to introduce species protections for birds with neat feathers

It's a trilby. The poor fedora, mistreated like that for so long.
Fedora is what Indiana Jones and 1930s gangsters wear. The trilby is the Internet Atheist [tm].
The fact that you can confuse them does not make a strong case for fedoras
Reddit did that. I had heard about the fedora thing, then saw a meme where the chubby, scruffy internet atheist was clearly wearing a trilby. How do you confuse the two? The trilby looks like it should be on a German alpine climber while the fedora looks gangster AF.
