You need to understand why these things persist – what real problems they ameliorate that caused them to come into existence in the first place – and then build superior solutions to those problems, not just burn down temples and call monks reactionaries.

History is impossible to change overnight. The vestigial remnants of society, no matter how much we want to change it, will still be around for a while. Note that I say a while and not forever. It is possible to change history, even for the better, but it takes a very long time and a concerted effort over several generations.
