This podcast seeks to challenge the commonly held assumptions about Japan as harmonious, homogeneous, and traditional by recasting its history as a history of conflict and change, as the history of class struggles, from anti-capitalist, anti-imperialist, anti-colonial, and intersectional perspectives.

      Women in the New Left is an extremely important topic. You have to learn about the New Left with the same mindset you read Schopenhauer (not to bang on about him, sorry). That is: learn, discard bad elements, e.g. misogyny

                  Yeah I sort of agree. "Cathedrals" are good but I'm 30 fucking years old. No reason why I couldn't do another undergrad but I'm not getting any younger. Let's see what happens

      The Japanese New Left? It's interesting for sure. The Weather Underground is probably the national new left I'm least familiar with. Probably had least mass support, not that any of them really did. Could just be the US political climate. Same strain of apathy as in Australia
