You could write an entire essay about how this show intentionally and very loudly ignores the structures of power to instead focus on the idea of individual actors being behind evil. The show is a literal PowerPoint presentation explaining how the reactionary state subsumes and redirects anything that internally challenges it.

The Halo franchise flip-flopped between the UNSC is whack imperialist authoritarian surveillance state and UNSC is goodguy america ww2 allies in space, and sadly libs that go on to produce the television adaptations of it would never go for the first interpretation, since its too close to home.

It had such a banger start since it focuses on the human rebellion on Madrigal and comes real close to making a point about the imperialism of the UNSC, then just drops it completely

First Wheel of Time, then Foundation, now Halo? This sex-haver propaganda is going too far!

Wheel of time had tons of sex in the original. The purists were mad because they cut more than they kept (well, and the chuds being chuds).

Do I want to know what they did to the foundation?

the foundation tv show basically has nothing to do with the books except for like some parts of the setting and plot. iirc the showrunner wanted to make their own IP but couldn't but then did shit to Foundation instead. Idk. I watched some of it and then stopped

i thought having the emperor exist as this weird genetic triumvirate of clones was cool tho, also one of them was lee pace

IIRC Gaal Dornick fucks. Also she's a woman now and she gets psychic powers. Don't watch it.

The design for halo 3 Cortana was too much and I was a teenager when I played it.

Cortana watching while Chief gets laid sounds so much like a poorly animated YouTube skit I bet it actually exists and predates the show.

“Chief mind telling me… “ “sir, I’m finishing this fuck”

There’s no way the tv show did the idea first and it is causing me pain that a “prestige” show did it seriously when a middle schooler’s first flash animation probably beat them to it.

I know right? It was such a dumb character development. I get that he's not a particularly deep character in the games but that's kind of the point.

Halo's story is just 9/11 american jingoism about how the religious fundamentalists are evil and humans are superior oorah let's go marines, so I can't say I'm surprised.

I am surprised this is the first comment here to say this, given yesterday's internet atheist thread. Take the war to the religious zealot other

Yes and it is incredibly mid.

It also lets us know that Master Chief does canonically fuck, because if there's one thing a Halo TV show needed it was an explicit sex scene with Master fucking Chief.

Yeah it came out last year and there’s another season in the works. It’s enjoyable if you like Halo, but in reality it’s just kinda average

It’s a 7 billion dollar ip owned by the biggest tech company in the world, all value must be extracted :porky-happy:

It also does have a pretty extensive story, and does basically promote the new halo game

There are 8 games, plus remasters of 6 of them, plus two mobile games and two RTS games. Halo is not as popular as it once was but you’re absolutely wrong if you think it’s not still massively popular

And they released halo infinite two years ago, which is probably going to be the only release for a while since it’s free to play
