            I realize that those people technically exist but they're statistically insignificant when it comes to the overall electorate. I can't imagine the majority of their base wants this.

            I realize the GOP's strategy is to appeal to an increasingly small number of people but this shit just seems suicidal.

      The GOP might use the bill as a bargaining chip. If you pass it - we pinky swear that you can have a tiny iota of progress on the debt ceiling as a treat.
