      It's kinda weird that China built a space station but still doesn't have a good domestic jet engine

        Seems like they're close to getting some in production. It's likely easier to use GE engines as they're super common and you can easily find ground crew in basically any international airport that can work on them.

        Wouldn't be surprised if the first runs of these planes use GE engines and in the next few years they start switching to CJ2000 engines once they can ramp up production.

        China is developing its own engine for the C919, the CJ-1000A Changjiang (长江), a version of which was first unveiled at the 2012 Zhuhai Airshow, but this engine has not yet been certified, and may only start to power the C919 by 2025 at the earliest.
