Edit: delta 8 isn’t food, but it should be

Water, salt, sugar. Available in any sports drink. Also eat normal, relatively healthy, food, which will take like 4-8 hours to help, but no reason to stretch that out further by eating some weird garbage.

Unfortunately, by the time you're hung over, only time is really going to help. Chugging water, or a sports drink, before you go to bed is good prevention. You won't think of it when stumbling to bed drunk, but if you leave something to drink on your night stand before going out, you'll find that you drink it.

Good advice. Thankfully I’m a hydro homie or this would be a lot worse.

You sound knowledgeable, does hair of the dog scale linearly? Like, net loss or net gain once one accounts for the increased hangover potential modified by time?

Hair of the dog makes it worse. You're just putting more alcohol into your system. Maybe being buzzed helps you deal with discomfort better, that's your call.

On the other hand, if you don't do any hair of the dog, you can take an actual pain killer for the headache.

you shouldnt drink suffient hair to re-hangover unless you're on a binge. just a light buzz, ideal if youre not busy

Gotcha, so the technique is kinda like that German dilution cult? Less is more and add water

Thank god I didn’t finish the handle, I hate delaying actions but this is an emergency.

Gonna try putting some teriyaki in the vodka. That has electrolytes right?

Take a few sips of pickle brine and then make a grilled cheese sandwich if you do dairy.

Thinly slice onion and tomato. Fry the onions for a bit until they get clear. Then when you make the sandwich it goes like this: bread, cheese, onion and tomato, cheese, bread. Fry that fucker in butter and you are good to go. If you eat meat a slice of deli ham with the veggies is a nice addition. But the important part is having cheese on the outside of whatever you add. It will melt and bind everything together. It's cheap and simple.

If you aren't vegan and go out? Eggs Benedict. Always solid.

If you are vegan? Fruit salad and some toast. Replenish your vitamins. A little apple and orange will be a big boost. But cut it up so you can have a bite then relax. The toasted bread will make it crunchy so you have to chew it. I dunno why that helps but it always did for me.

    Good luck!

It's easy and should have all the salts and fats to help you recover. After that drink some water slowly for a few hours. You'll be right as rain.

Hell yes comrade. Gochujang is so good. Also remember your body sends messages but we sometimes don't hear them. If you find yourself craving citrus fruit you might have a vitamin C deficiency. Modern medicine is amazing but remember your body is an organic machine. Treat it well, it's the only one you'll ever get.

Out of curiosity, is there a mechanical reason any of that works? Ona gut level, I know onion helps, curious if there’s knowable reason why that is so

Alcohol depletes a lot of your vitamins and dehydrates you. It causes you to piss all that stuff out. Supplements are fine but it's better to get it from fruit and veggies. If you get a cramp from dehydration eat a banana for the potassium. Alcohol also depletes your B vitamins. Take a supplement, it's water soluble so once your body gets enough you will get the excess out naturally via urination.

Source: I used to be a wild party animal but I have trouble sleeping so I was always the one to tuck people into bed or make some omelets with whatever was in the fridge so we had a little something in our guts before bed. I made a fuck ton of Mac n cheese back in those days.

You’re the salt of earth you are. Recovered Party animals rule.

If I understand correctly, the key is to replenish all of the stuff the alcohol took away?

Yes exactly, the hangover is because of imbalances. If you get balanced you might still feel a bit off but your recovery will be so much faster.

My favorite has been olives tomatoes and feta, as a lil mix if you can find it. Tons of salt and not horrible for you.

The real trick is to keep a electrolyte drink stash in your room specifically for when you get home or wake up dehydrated, beyond just taking care of yourself before going to bed

Nothing works very fast the next day besides getting a whole ass IV drip bc it's all gotta process through your gut before you recover

Nothing helps me more than going on a walk outside. Even if it feels like the last thing I want to do.
