    I mean it depends on which part of the world you are from. Colourism was, and is, a very real issue in South Africa. Back during apartheid there was stuff like the paper bag test and pencil hair test.

    And other kinds of colourism, outside of the past style racism, are still around, lightskined black people or "yellowbones" are considered more attractive by some, and there are even creams to lighten your skin that get sold widely.
