I mean think about life. It's so arbitrary sometimes. We're living in the universe where Donald Trump threw a McDonald's feast at the white house.
Why then, couldn't we live in the universe where someone like you gets just enough power to make the world a better place. What if by some clerical error like in Blank Check, you get all of Jeff Bezos' money and divide it evenly among every Amazon worker?
So much of life is unpredictable. You could be at the right place and right time to make an unselfish choice.
The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of fellas doing stuff
Unironically, yes.
We all have several opportunities to do something cool.
As cool as that could be we don't need to hope that any one person will make some great move to save the world. The greater mass of humanity always orients itself towards a better future. We've all just got to play our little part.
If I get all of Bezos's money, I'm buying myself some biryani for lunch and giving the rest to the stinky owl
The only way I'm saving the world is if pull a Kyle Reese and impregnate Sarah Conner.
What if by some clerical error like in Blank Check, you get all of Jeff Bezos' money and divide it evenly among every Amazon worker?
Or I'd get CIA'd
I think the first thing I'd do with that power is bring together a brain trust to figure out what to do.
You could be at the right place and right time to make an unselfish choice.
Idk, I can do something... but I won't say my intention is truly selfless....
Wanting the world to be a better place is in my own self-interest and will help everyone I care about, along with millions (billions?) of other people. So while it's not "really" selfless, I would still consider it good and noble.
We are already marxists, we are making the world better just by existing. It's what keeps me going a lot of the time.
