Orcas have incredible social behaviors and trans generational culture. They have been subjected not only to hunting but kidnappings and the pollution of their environments and they know that humans are responsible.

This is not a startling new behavior, this is a revolution.

    I mean this sincerely.

Their culture is as complex as human culture. I would not be shocked if there's trans Orcas. There's just not really a way to know.

What's cool though is that the portion of their brains associated with empathy is massive, so there's this question of how Orcas think about their pods, whether they have bounded egos. This further complicates gender: what does gender mean when you're just one component part of a multi sexed pod?

I still can't believe that the people who wrote a musical with almost good politics (only Little Shop of Horrors "a lot of folks deserve to die" and Sweeney Todd " those above will serve those below"have better politics ) also wrote one of THE most horrifying defenses of US liberalism and empire with "Miss Saigon." The orientalism, the fucking apologia for US warcrimes in Vietnam, the show's absolution of the soldiers... it's really gross.

Theater kids had their perfect chance to sing their favorite song and burn down the capitol and they passed on it. Not even a murmur. So disapointing.

While this is super cool, I'm unironically worried that the navy is just going start dropping depth charges or something.

The way of water has no beginning and no end. Our hearts beat in the womb of the world. The sea is your home, before your birth and after your death. The sea gives and the sea takes. :fishe:
