Usually will do similar breathing to you, but then say something like "god dang it" in a fairly calm manner. Research indicates that vocalizing swear words can actually increase pain tolerance btw. I think part of my calmness is usually due to witnessing the stubbing like I'm seeing it happen to someone else, so it's more about the cringe of it happening than the pain I am experiencing. Also helps to kinda laugh it off, in the vein of "well that was a pretty careless move".
