Or is it just going to be like the site name where mods just do it without asking anyone?

    How does federation work? Is it site wide? Is it individual?

    I'd been working under the impression that once we were federated individual could choose to see other instances on their front page but admittedly I don't know and haven't done any research.

      I think this is basically right, but also it means users from other instances will be able to start commenting on hexbear threads, if the instance isn't banned from federating with hexbear
