Or is it just going to be like the site name where mods just do it without asking anyone?

    A discussion isn't necessarily democratic, but when did we have a discussion about whether we should federate with other instances and which instances we should or shouldn't federate with?

      I think federation is implied since day 1 because it's the whole reason to use lemmy instead of postmill in the first place

        My understanding is a main reason for migration is that it's supposed to fix a lot of the technical problems HB has been having, and reduce the work our mods have to do in the background. Federation is an optional step afterwards.
