I like to stand outside in my green desert, look at all the diseased and hungry animals I've poisoned, and take comfort in that fact that I've completely dominated a 10th of an acre. It may give me cancer but I've exerted perfect control over everything around me. I feel like a man when I've salted my own earth.

    Grass lawns are good.

    spoiler

In parks where dozens of people can enjoy them at the same time and benefit from the socialized maintenance.

I agree with the anti-lawn discourse, but can I just say that I'd prefer if people could trim the flora around the sidewalk so I can at least walk my dog without having to walk through very tall grass and weeds?

The thing is, at Versailles they don't have grass, the gardens at Versailles are all hedges, statues, fountains, and gravel. The French aristocracy saw walking on grass lawns as that thing the peasants and the English did and thus lawns were bad and wrong. King Louis never touched grass.

other plants are green and also not an invasive species that's almost the ecological equivalent of green concrete
