        I have known a guy who called himself volodimir

        for all I know though he was Russian and his parents were doing that keyleigh thing

            it also might be just something we in non russian countries have been getting wrong consistently due to lack of interest in the accuracy of spelling according to the various Russian dialects like if someone translated the lallans dialect of English name Alastair into Alexander in russian due to a lack of interest in the difference between the Scots dialect and mainline English

                yeah I'm not that interested in sorting out the correct translation of the dialects of a language I don't speak. I'm just going to spell peoples names the way they tell me and if they only know the cyrillic alphabet then frankly we probably won't be in written communication
