So I have to create a dozen different accounts and re-enter my fucking god damn information over and over again. Fuck Workday. Fuck this job seeking bullshit fuck. When there are 5000 different websites and I have to make 5000 different accounts just to fucking APPLY, someone deserves to have their fucking head smashed into the concrete.

Remember: Many of those job offerings are fake and never to be actually filled

My director openly said this to us. Basically we always have one or two spots open never to be filled so that if there are layoffs we have a buffer :pain:

Depending on what your director meant this sounds okay. I know head of my department always asks for more staff than we need, if we get it we add a couple of research projects to our workload, if not and there's ever a budget cut he pretends not getting those extra positions is a major loss for the department lol. Genuinely a good way to deal with penny-pinching upper management.

Tinfoil hat theory: many job listings are fake and are either just advertisers, companies, and third parties collecting and selling data.

If you're forwarded to an ATS system it's more likely they beed a backlog of talent in case they need to fill a position in the future. But yes, some job sites do seem to post scraped previous job postings as a honeypot, these are usually pretty obvious because either the company or city listed doesn't exist lol. I think they sell your info to recruiters for the most part, but idk if there's a huge market for like software engineers who give all their private info to the wallet inspector
