“There are no innocent civilians” is nearly true when you’re talking about Israel instead. Over 90% of the adult population are active or former military, and are reasonable military targets. And that’s just talking about the ones in Israel proper, not the illegal settlements.
In the words of IOF - "on oct 7 about 1000 Israelis were killed. We don't know how many were terrorists"
We don't want to even think about how many were killed by the IDF on that day.

Anybody know whether someone in military reserves or an armed paramilitary settler organization counts as a civilian under international law?

From what I could figure out from like 5 minutes of searching I think military reserves would be “non-combatants” but not civilians.
Paramilitaries are a bit less clear and there isn’t a solid answer. Possibility 1 is they fall into existing categories, and are either lawful combatants or civilians that would be covered by domestic law (Palestinian domestic law, not Israeli domestic law), possibility 2 is they’re a third distinct group and no one really knows what to do with them. Which would I guess mean “You can do what you want they aren’t covered by international law”?

Okay; Palestinians are booted from their homes and turned into refugees in their own country; newly naturalized Israelis are shown to their new homes, inspecting the place with wonder and a sense of hope all the while the original owner of the land have been relegated to an open air prison. While they're moving their furniture in, the original owners of the land are suffering from the insanely high unemployment rate and living off worldwide charity and taking a risk that them or their children could be shot any day now by IOF. These naturalized Israelis are aware that people had to be removed so they can have this land but they don't really care. The original owners only live about forty minutes away, but to be allowed exit from their bantustan it'll take them hours, and then hours to get back in, and if they should delay their return, they'll never be allowed to leave again. While the naturalized Israelis go to sleep comfortably in their bed, the IDF have been given very strict orders to knock on doors and to arbitrarily take homes as temporary stations, just to harass the Palestinian population and keep them as frustrated as possible. The naturalized Israelis are aware of the Nakba and that Gaza contains many refugees from those days and that their homes were stolen for them by the Israeli government and it doesn't mean anything to them, meanwhile the Gazans are policed by the newly renamed terrorist groups that massacred them, their parents and their grandparents as the IOF was once multiple terrorist groups like the Haganah, the Irgun and the Lehi brigade. The naturalized Israelis are entirely aware they're living on stolen land and that the original owners are just next door, and that if there was justice in their country, those people would legally have the right to reclaim their homes, and thus booting the newly naturalized Israelis out on the street, and so they have a good bit of incentive for the Palestinians to just all die or be expelled.

Why do right-winger always use projection? They know that none of their 'civilians' (settlers) are innocent and accuse their victims of the same. It's so disgusting
I've learned a lot about narcissism in recent years. If you understand it, you will understand the actions of states like Israel and USA much better.
