a couple months ago I decided to arm myself with a crow call and a bag of unsalted peanuts to befriend my neighborhood crows. that's been going really well and I am familiar enough with a bunch of them now to have given them names, but the interesting side effect of it is that I've been noticing all the other birds in the area too. i know where a blue jay couple lives, I can identify sparrows and starlings by their songs, and I've seen some really pretty finches. i never figured I'd be a bird watching type person but uh... I totally get it now. birds are gr8
