Definitely possible that McAfee did it. But there are a number of other malicious websites and apps that will fiddle with your Preferred Browser setting, to divert you into the lamest corners of the internet.

If you see it got changed, change it back in Settings -> Search Engine. If it gets toggled again, its likely either an app running on your system or a plugin you've already installed that's futzing with things.
