In 2021 Unbound Gravel became the first major gravel cycling event to create a nonbinary category. That year one person registered in the category and then completed the one hundred mile course, becoming the first nonbinary champion of Unbound Gravel.

Making Our Space: Unbound and Beyond follows that rider, Abi Robins, as well as two other nonbinary athletes: KC Cross and Apollo Leonard as they train for Unbound in 2022 and work to create more space for queer and trans inclusion in gravel cycling.
