The ones that show the US winning are either limited "wins" within a specific set of parameters (e.g. we stopped China from landing in Taiwan, but we no longer have a navy or airforce). Or assume some stupid future widget (there was one where the USAF just gave itself next Gen super fighters that don't exist).

even modern tech doesnt really seem to give as huge an edge as youd think. old soviet vehicles are being used regularly in ukraine and take out modern vehicles all the time

The American military in particular is in full blown wunderwaffen mode where they spend $200 million for a single aircraft under the assumption that it's completely undetectable on radar and can outfight a hundred peer aircraft before it gets shot down, because the American military is 95% grift-per-volume and at the whims of privatized defense contractors gaming the system to print money for their shareholders.

As with all militaries built around some amazing hyperweapon winning the war singlehandedly for them, they're in for a rude awakening when it once again turns out that what wins wars is reliable, dependable weapons that are easy to operate, maintain, and replace losses for.

Shock and awe when the greatest assault rifle in the world isn't the latest X-generation skunkworks homing bullet whatever but an AK-47 made out of old furniture
