> put a ton of minerals and 4 gas in the center
> surround it with unbuildable terrain so you can't even expand there
oh yeah, it's map design time
Anyways, unironically bring back this era of RTS design, before we actually knew how anything worked. Balance? What's that, I just laid it out like this because it looked cool on the minimap :gigachad:
Reminds me of a custom map I made once in SC1. It was maximum size with absolutely no terrain features. It had mineral and gas deposits in each of the four corners, and then some minerals strewn about the edges at fairly even intervals. I called it "Nebraska."
I played 1v1 on there against my cousin, with both of us as Terran. I started building a massive row of turrets/bunkers/siege tanks right across the middle of the map, starting from both of the southern corners. He managed to blunder through a gap in the wall, not realizing that the wall was there in the first place, and walked right up to the outskirts one of my bases. As he was getting chewed apart by bunkers and tanks, I had parked a pair of ghosts up in his starting base, and I let a couple of nukes fly to soften up his outer defenses. I had no real followup to that attack, but it was apparently enough to make him ragequit.
and this is why you don't let people build up that much. rushes and timing attacks are an important part of the game.
