There shouldn't be suburbs but there are. Also you have to go more than 30 miles from Chicago to get to relatively unmolested nature for camping, or to an outdoor gun range, roller coasters, or any other land-heavy entertainment. Unavoidable effect of cities if land use is dictated by profit.
